The 40th Congress of the ESCRS is taking place from 16-20 September 2022, at the Milano Convention Centre in Milan, Italy. The congress, which will host around 1,000 registered participants, will also be streamed via the virtual conferencing platform now that the virtual world has become a part of our world.

The 4-day congress will include daily exhibitions, giving people the chance to experience the latest technologies in ophthalmology and providing the ideal location for ophthalmologists and researchers to network with their peers.

Let’s have a look at this year’s program

Young ophthalmologists will not only continue to benefit from the program created for them, but they will also attend instructional courses, which are planned to take place on five different sessions on Sunday.

Free Paper sessions are also expected to place before the day wraps up with IlIC (Intraocular Lens Implant Club) Symposium from 18:15-19:45.

Monday, 19 September

The third day of the congress will kick off with the ‘Heritage Lecture’, which then will be followed by the main symposium. A surgical video session entitled ‘Getting Into Trouble’ will take place in the afternoon. CSRCS and ISRS will organize two different symposiums, of which their topics are not disclosed yet.

Monday will be full of instructional courses and satellites of global ophthalmic companies, giving attendees a unique chance to explore the newest innovations in the field.

Visitors can also attend ‘ESONT Courses’ and ‘Wetlabs’ throughout the day. There will also be ‘Free Paper Sessions’ and ‘Presented Poster Sessions’ on three different occasions.

Monday marks the last day that the daily exhibition is open.

Tuesday, 20 September

On the final day of the Congress, a ‘Presbyopia Workshop’ and an ‘Orbis Symposium’ will take place in the morning. Free Paper Sessions, Wetlabs and instructional courses will remain among the events that continue on the last day.

The final day will be rounded up, as has become something of a tradition at the ESCRS Congress, with the “Best of the Best”, a session that will enable attendees to go away with the main pearls of the event.
